Of all the fashions of people, of all our laudable diversity, there are some enchanted like curious orphans in a fantasist’s library, given over to swirling words and glowing fairytales made brighter by the shadows cast. Indeed, your eyes are brighter now, as we have each other’s attention.

My name is Alex Stitt. I am a British-American bohemian with a progressive passion and an old world mind. I have played many roles in my life: a fortune teller, a librarian, a guard on an active lava flow, a rites of passage facilitator, an art promoter, a fire dancer, an LGBT activist, and a mental health counselor. Yet throughout my unusual journey I have remained a writer, above all.

Having grown up on the edge of convention, I love to tell dark coming of age stories at once macabre, funny, ardent, and fantastical. For a good book unlocks our vulnerability, allowing the most emotive part of us to love, and fight, and fall into a cathartic cataclysm upheaving our very preconceptions of self. We are and always have been our own protagonists, and if you stand at that precipice unsure of whether to kiss, or kill, or laugh at the paragraph’s last fading syllables, then I know I’ve told a good story.
