The roaring 20’s didn’t just roar, they howled. Then they had a cup of tea. Enter Frederic Ambercott, a British werewolf displaced after WWI and the death of Sebastian, the best Keeper a lycanthropic pup could ask for. Haunted by dreams of an African American boy playing a wild saxophone, Frederic journeys to America, escaping the Order’s newly assigned Keeper: Cearbhallan, an irascible Irish woman out to be the next Van Helsing. Tracking the enchanted tempo to New Orleans, Fred finds a 13 year old runaway named Willum SawGrass, but the moon is rising with Fred’s hunger, forcing them to the hardy shackles of  La Beau Cri, the Big Easy’s most arcane bordello. With Fred chained up, Elijah Seaweaver, the cunning madame of the house, hires Will as a busboy. But when his sax makes the dead dance, all hell breaks loose.  A new crime lord is muscling in on Elijah, the shadowy daughter of the city’s new debutante has her eyes on Will, the undead Queen of Voodoo puppeteers Frederic’s lupine dreams, the Ku Klux Klan are lighting their torches, and if things couldn’t get any worse, Cearbhallan just stepped off the boat.
